From 19 February to 17 May, MUSEC – Museum of Cultures presents Painting and Poetry. Men and Gods in Modern Japanese Art. The temporary exhibition, set up in the exhibition space of Villa Malpensata, is built around two recent acquisitions: sixty-two vertical scrolls (kakemono), created between the 15th and 20th centuries and donated by Claudio Perino, and six monumental painted screens from the Edo period (1603–1868), part of the collection of East Asian works assembled by Maria Francesca Di Milia (1949–2022) and now on indefinite loan to MUSEC.

With this project, MUSEC offers the public a fascinating journey into Japanese visual culture, bringing together art, literature, philosophy and spirituality, and confirming its role as a reference point for the study and promotion of world cultures. Two catalogues, one for each collection presented to the public for the first time, accompany the exhibition (Edizioni Fondazione culture e musei).
