Fondo Lo Bue


Erberto Lo Bue (1946-2022) was an internationally renowned Tibetologist and Indologist. Author, among numerous publications, of a monograph on the VI Dalai Lama (Vita e canti del VI Dalai Lama, L'Angolo Manzoni, Torino 1983) and Tibet. Since 1999 he has taught art history of India and Central Asia for the undergraduate course in history, cultures and oriental civilizations at the Department of Linguistic and Oriental Studies at the University of Bologna, first as a researcher and then as an associate professor; since 2005 he has also taught classical Tibetan for the graduate course. He has been a member of the International Association for Tibetan Studies and the International Association for Ladakh Studies, and of the editorial board of The Tibet Journal, as well as a "guest researcher" at the Department of Court History at the Beijing Palace Museum.

Lo Bue's book collection boasts a thousand books, in both Western and Tibetan formats, on the language, culture, religion, and geography of Tibet. There are also several conference proceedings and miscellany on Tibet and neighboring lands. Some valuable Tibetan books have covers and sometimes original traditional cloths for protection.
