Through Esovisioni (a neologism created by the Museo delle Culture), we intend to combine the idea of exoticism and otherness with the idea of vision; a typical phenomenon in artistic photography.
Esovisioni exhibitions generally revolve around the theme of Exoticism and focus on the various visions of cultures as they were perceived and shaped in the work of the most important photographers of the twentieth century. The main aim is to constitute a "map" that describes how these artists perceived the ‘Others’.
This artistic and scientific research investigates the significant parallelisms and stylistic similarities in Ethnic art and in the art of the twentieth-century Avant-garde artists. It also constitutes the fundamental basis for the ‘luganese’ Collection.
